Getting Around Traveuni

At the Matei Airport you can catch about 2 flights a day to and from Nadi and Savusavu that will last about one and a half hours. Use caution and try to book in advance if you can because these routes stay vary busy. You can also catch a ferry to Savusavu and Labasa at very competitive rates. The main road in Traveuni is along the scenic coast and you can find a few inland four wheel drive tracks pretty easily. If you want to get around Traveuni smoothly start planning in advance, long wait times in between busses are common so you might want to do some walking. Don’t forget a buss ride is an enjoyable experience and a great way to meet the locals. You can take taxies or rent a four wheel drive for a day in Naqara and head out on your own for an adventure. Another option is to go by taxi. Be sure and book ahead on Sunday and you can usually hire a taxi for an all day tour of the island cheaper than renting a car. From the airport you will be looking at $18 to Waiyevo, and $50 to Vuna in a taxi. As with any vacation it is best to know your options especially when choosing between Fiji holiday packages.
