There are sites around Somosomo strait to satisfy both novice and experienced divers on their holiday.
Another must see during your Fiji holiday is Rainbow Reef and as the name implies a feast of color is guaranteed. Snorkelers can have a great time here and also when heading toward Vuna Reef, Prince Charles Beach, or Beverly Beach, where you will find great coral and interesting creatures.
One of the must do hikes in Traveuni is on the Lavena Coastal Walk and Tavoro Waterfalls that can be found in Bouma National Heritage Park. You might also want to consider a guided hike in Vidawa Forest, Bouma or Des Voeux peak.
Traveuni is for the birds. This is Fiji’s best area for island birds and over 100 species can be found here. Every year hundreds of people enjoy bird watching during there Fiji holidays. Some good hot spots are Des Voeux Peak at dawn or hiking the Vidawa Rainforest. It’s also not a bad idea to head near Qeleni village. If you follow the 4 wheel drive trail on the Matei side of the island you are likely to see parrots and fantails especially during their nesting season in August and September. To see orange or flame doves, Fiji goshawk, wattled honeyeater, and grey and white heron head toward the Lavena coast. To check out fruit bats head towards Vatuwiri Farm Resort at Vuna Point.
Big game fishing is especially enjoyable in Traveuni. Here you can expect to catch sailfish, wahu, maimai and skipjack, not to mention boat charters are very affordable considering the experience it will bring on your Fiji holiday.
